Ibiza

The first island to visit was Ibiza, some 75 nm from Valencia. Due to the weather conditions we sailed to Dénia first and from there, covering the shortest distance from the mainland to Ibiza we crossed over to San Antonio on the northern shore of Ibiza.

From there we took Alegría down to the southern coast to Ibiza ‘city’ passing an interesting bar with no more than 2.5 m of water depth. Yet with Alegría’s shallow draft of only 1.5 m that was not a problem. With all four marinas in Ibiza fully booked we anchored in the neighbouring bay and had a very enjoyable night out in town exploring Ibiza’s historic downtown and nightlife.

In order to catch a good breeze home we left the next morning sailing directly back to Valencia.

Mallorca

En route from Valencia to Marseille we stopped first in Palma de Mallorca and then visited the North coast docking in Soller and sailing to the famous Cala de Calobra.

Menorca

On our turn from Marseille to La Línea de la Concepción right next to Gibraltar our only stopover was Mahon on the lovely island of Menorca. Arriving in the middle of the night we dropped anchor next to the Fortaleza de Isabel, a huge fort protecting the unusually deep natural port of Mahon, then during the moved over to the Marina in Mahon, the charming capital of Menorca famous, among others, for its gin distillery.
